Tumu oversaw a private plan change in tandem with a resource consent application, which saw approval for the development successfully granted in 2019.
Set amongst 13.8ha of mature trees and landscaped grounds, the village masterplan includes 180 villas, a 60-bed care facility, and “the lodge” a 1,350sqm communal building providing significant amenity for residents including a lounge and bar area, indoor swimming pool and gymnasium, and a café.
Architecturally-designed, the village references the region’s heritage through classic features such as weatherboard cladding, gabled ends, covered patios, and long run roofing. Sustainable low impact design elements have been incorporated throughout the village in the form of grass swales, raingardens, and wetland areas. Many of the original fruit trees have been retained and add to the character of the village.
Construction of the 71 villas in stage 1 is complete and construction on stage 2 including The Lodge, is imminent.
